Nia was getting better at sleeping, but we never seem to catch a break. She was sick the past week with a cough and then 101-102 fever for 3 days. She has been overflowing with mucous and didn't sleep but short naps on someone's chest for a few days. Her teeth seemed to be really hurting her the whole week, too. Lots of tylenol, ibuprofen, benadryl and teething gel this week.
Meanwhile, she deals with other milestones. Apparently she is in the "realizing mommy or daddy can leave her" phase, which causes extra crankiness and fighting bedtimes. I have to say though that once she's down, she cries a bit and falls asleep suddenly and actually is capable of longer stretches of sleep now. Naps are becoming 2, almost 1-1/2 hours with usually a short one late in the day that she needs but fights.
This week Nia is also making headway crawling. She of course practices all day and for a couple hours in the middle of the night, before and after naps too. She lifts up her belly and tucks her knees, most times ending up on her face crying. But she can support herself in a plank too, and mostly moves backwards. She has managed to go forward slightly, I think it's a matter of days before she's off and crawling around. I think she's just a little earlier than Ian with crawling, since she's very motivated to check out his toys.
